On vacation here again - 4 in our group. Service was fast and friendly. Clam chowder was delicious thick with chunks of clams. Fried cod and clams were perfectly crisp. Not a fan of the fries (not crispy crunchy) or cole slaw. Had the calamari strips appetizer - they were bland. The marionberry cobbler ala mode and brownies were good. Food was consistent compared to 3 years ago. I still recommend this place

Great service, Mediocre food. Clam chowder required salt and for $19 bucks expected more than a crab claw on a Crab Louie salad. We will pass on this place next time.

We came in to eat after a beautiful day on the beach. My husbands fish and chips were pretty tasty but the cole slaw had no flavor. The clam chowder was pretty bland and gummy. The beer was cold but the Bloody Mary was lacking. The place was clean but the service was slow.

Great food with a nice sit down atmosphere. Homey seaside feel with fresh local catch when available. The guys working are courteous and make you feel welcome. A must have when visiting the oregon coast, or if you just got done fishing.

I first asked for a crab melt and I was told that they were out of crab. I thought it was a joke at first, but the explained to me the crab was out of season. I then made the mistake of getting the crab cakes. Why was this a mistake? The reason is that if they were out of fresh crab, then I was going to get frozen crab cakes. That is exactly what I got. It came with fries and cole slaw. The fries weren't cooked all the way through and the cole slaw tasted like cabbage and mayonnaise. I would've given them 1 star but the staff worked really hard since they were packed and understaffed. It's also possible the food here is good, but once again they were too busy to be able to make a decent meal.

We Will Be Back..... Food was great, my son especially liked the calamari strips & chowder. Quick and attentive service. Very pleased. My hubs had the prawns and they were lightly battered with large prawns. Very happy all around ~ good atmosphere to boot!

Service is exceptional. We rolled in just a few minutes before they were closing, and our friendly server never tried to rush us or make it feel like we were inconveniencing them. As others have mentioned, the crabby cakes were awesome, and dang that garlic bread! Price is very reasonable for the quality and amount of food - I will definitely be back.

Awesome service! We tried king Neptune and it was disgusting... I would recommend FCP over any place in town due to cleanliness, great service and great food. Price is comparable and worth every penny!! My cheese burger wads freakin awesome and server patient and very friendly!

We ate here a few years ago, but this is the place my wife always talk about when we think of oysters. We had the best oysters every here. We often talk about moving to Oregon just so we can eat here again. Fresh off the boat in the morning and on your plate by lunch. We loved the Oysters here. My fried oysters were good, but the raw ones were great.

Awesome dockside restaurant. A little pricey for a family of 8 but when in Rome! Lol. Clan chowder is off the hook! Crab patties are fresh and tasty. Kids meals are good portions. My kids love the chicken tenders. Cole slaw and fries are "anh" but if you get a bowl of claim chowder with your meal...you won't be able to eat those any way. Friendly folks willing to chat. Loved the decor and environment. Great atmosphere. Ate there at 1pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. Totally worth the stop.

This is a definite coastal dining stopping point. A lot of love seems to go into the food, the ambiance, and the experience. Great fresh ingredients and interesting recipes. Go support the little guy. Hint: The crab cakes are awesome with lots of crab!

I had a great lunch here last Wednesday. Not much business here during the mid-week this time of year. I had the place to myself. They treated me very well. I ordered fish and chips. After all, this the coast. This was some of the best breaded fish I have ever had. It was not greasy at all. The breading was very light and flavorful. They spared the chips and gave me cole slaw instead. I cannot wait for my next trip down to Coos Bay so I can stop in.

It's a shame to want a Captain D, s when eating in a local coastal area. Fish n chips 1\4 inch cod over cooked. Good garlic bread. Not recommended

We frequent this area and had an old favorite but wanted to try somewhere different for dinner. After reading Yelp's reviews, we decided on Crabby Cafe and we were sure glad we did! Although very small, the decor is very interesting. The walls are lined with photos of ships at sea, great fish catches, news articles and other 'crabby' memorabilia. The young man that served us was attentive, informative, and very friendly. He even shared the story with us about the cafe burning down approximately 10 years ago while the owners were on their honeymoon .And the food didn't let us down either. It was so good, in fact, we went back the very next day for lunch and the waiter remembered us. Over the course of our two meals there, we had the calamari basket, the fish & chips basket, the jumbo shrimp basket, the crabby cakes basket and the crabby melt along with cups of clam chowder. Everything is made from scratch and they were all fantastic! The seafood was very meaty and abundant, only lightly breaded and fried golden; not greasy in the least. We had never seen calamari strips like these; they resembled big ol' sweet potato or zucchini fries. Only the best part of the meat without all the tentacles, etc. The 'chips' are made from fresh potatoes. The coleslaw was creamy and not too sweet. The crabby melt was generously filled with crab meat as were the crabby cakes. And the prices were reasonable. We couldn't find anything negative about Crabby Cafe and we'll certainly be returning!

Ok...here goes. First off, I hate knocking little diners, but our experience at this place wasn't great. I think the biggest issue I have with the Crabby Cafe is that it is called the Crabby Cafe but they were completely out of crabs....and our server seemed to indicate that this was not an infrequent occurrence. I am sure there is a lot to their business that I just don't understand but this little diner is still right on the docks in Winchester Bay and it also happens to be sitting directly next to a cantina where everyone brings the crabs they caught to be cooked and cleaned....and yet this place runs out of crab. I know that it has to do with their distributor but you'd think it would have a backup plan. Odd. But even though they didn't have crab, we decided to stay because the place looked interesting, and I found some reviews saying people liked it. From our experience though, it wasn't great. They did have some fresh clam chowder they made that morning. That was pretty decent. I had the calamari sticks and my boyfriend had the french dip sandwich. His sandwich was good but I found the calamari to be too greasy for my tastes. If you look at other reviews, there are some people that swear by this place (great fish and chips I guess?). So give it a try ....hopefully they have some crab! It can be a bit pricey so watch out for that.

First delight was the mid- afternoon bloody Mary with celery & green olives. Rainy midweek offered us plenty of time to chat with Kristi...friendly, easygoing asset to a fun-funky diner experience. Crab cakes were good (not so secret ingredient, ginger, adds nice tang) and grilled vegetables that accompany them were sublime! Cod, fish of the day, grilled with Cajun blackening was delish!! Clam chowder had wonderful seasoning that made it go down so smooth. Finished with marionberry cobbler....hmm-hmm good! Ice cream is essential offset to tart berries - be sure to go all the way and enjoy dairy+berry. ll in all, Crabby Cafe turned out to be a real treat that brightened an otherwise gloomy day (2 inches of rain and huge winds...not unusual for this season on the gorgeous OR coast?!?)

Everything was fresh, the crab, the salads, the clam chowder, and they even had incredible fries and homemade coleslaw to top it off. The service was very friendly and courteous. You can tell they enjoy being there and having there little diner. Just be aware that they aren't open normal 9-9 hours so check their website before you go. It will definitely be worth your time and money.

We were looking for a good place for seafood. We found Crabby Cafe even though it was a dark rainy night. They don't light the place up very bright. Their clam chowder is made daily from scratch and it was the best I've eaten - period! The oysters weren't overcooked and the calamari was in big 1 in. thick slices lightly breaded. The colslaw was excellent and the waitstaff friendly. GREAT PLACE!! We'll be back!

Great restaurant! Fresh seafood and great ambiance. The waiter was very helpful and answering to our questions about the menu, with a big smile. A great experience there. I will go back for sure if I go back to Oregon.
